Week 7 - Countries of the World

Good afternoon!

Today we will do 5 things:

  1. Speaking activity - What are you good at? What are you not good at?
  2. Talk about countries and their flags; also about nationalities
  3. Unit 3 textbook
  4. 'Be' verbs form
  5. Practice for Quiz #1 (the quiz is next week; June 1; 10 pts)

Conversation Topic
What are you good at? What are you not good at?

  • I'm good at speaking French. I'm not good at cooking.
  • I'm good at reading fast. I'm not good at cleaning my office.

Next, let's talk about some countries and cities and ask "Where are you from?"

Week 6 - Finish Unit 2

First, did you do the following?
1) Have you been reading books on Xreading and taking the quizzes? If you have questions, ask Kevin.
2) Did everyone do the Online Workbook Unit 1? All students should be finished!


Today, we will ...
1) Practice Prepositions of Place
2) Do some online exercises
3) Finish Unit 2 in the textbook, p. 12, 13
4) You will do the Online Workbook, Unit 2 for homework.
5) We will try an online QuizIzz game at the end of class

Prepositions of Place


Prepositions of Place show you where things are.

in  (に, の中で, のうちに)  The plant is in the pot.
in front of   (の前に)  The desk is in front of the wall.
behind  (後ろに)   The plant is behind the chair.
on  (上に)  The laptop is on the desk.
next to  (の隣に)  The laptop is next to the water bottle.
under  ()  The drawers are under the desk.

between  (の間に)  The organizer is between the photo and the laptop.
by  (のそばに, 隣に, 近くに)  The plant is by the desk. (same as 'next to')
over  (上に)  The light is over the desk. (We can't see the light in this picture.)
above  (上に)  The light is above the desk.

Remember, use 'is' for a singular thing. Use 'are' for plural things.
